Privacy Policy

Last updated 4 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information Leadtrotech ICT Academy collects when you visit our website or study with us, why we collect it, who sees it, how long we keep it and the control you have over it. We have written it in plain language on purpose.

1. Who we are

Leadtrotech ICT Academy is the training arm of Leadtrotech Technologies Limited, based in Lagos, Nigeria. In this policy, "we", "us" and "the academy" mean Leadtrotech ICT Academy and Leadtrotech Technologies Limited. We decide why and how the personal information described here is used, which makes us the "data controller" under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

Questions about your information can go to info@leadtrotechictacademy.com or +234 911 566 9720 (call or WhatsApp).

2. What we collect, and why

We only collect what we need to run your course and look after your account. Here is everything, grouped by where it comes from.

  • Your account. Your full name, email address, phone number and a password. We store your password in scrambled form, so nobody at the academy can read it. We also ask for your date of birth (we work out your age from it) and what best describes you (for example a student, employed or a freelancer). If you are under 18 we also ask for your parent or guardian's name, phone number and how they are related to you, and their email address if you want to give it. For someone under 18 we also record that the parent or guardian knows about the registration and agrees to it (the wording shown and the date). If a parent or guardian's email address is given, we send them one email to tell them about the registration, and we note when we did. We keep a record of when you agreed to our Terms and Privacy Policy and to receive emails from us.
  • Your learning. The courses you enrol in, your progress through lessons, quiz attempts and scores, assignments and the files you submit, grades and tutor feedback, notes you write, questions you ask, which live classes you attended, and any certificate you earn.
  • Your reviews and feedback (optional). After your certificate is approved you can review the course. If we publish your review, it appears with your first name and the first letter of your surname, never your email address. You can also send private end-of-course feedback: ratings of the course and your tutor, how the pace felt, how likely you are to recommend us, and optional comments. Feedback is read by the academy team. Your tutor only sees summaries and comments without your name, and only once enough graduates have answered that no one can be picked out.
  • Progress messages (optional). We use your existing activity (lessons finished, quizzes taken, assignments handed in and graded) to show your progress and badges on your dashboard, to send a short note when you reach a milestone, and to send a summary every Monday. These appear in the app, and on your phone if you turned on alerts. You can switch them off at any time from the "Your progress" box on your dashboard. Your progress and badges stay visible either way.
  • Your payments. The amount, date, status, payment reference and payment method of each payment. Card payments are handled by Paystack on its own secure page, so we never see or store your card number. If you pay by bank transfer we keep the sender's name and bank, the amount, date and note you give us, and the proof of payment you upload.
  • Your photo (optional). You can add a photo on My Profile. It is stored privately, not in a public folder, and is only shown to the people described in section 5.
  • Your graduate profile and CV (optional). A CV you build is private unless you switch sharing on, and the employer profile only exists if you switch on "Get noticed by employers". What you enter is then shared as described in section 5. It is always your choice and you can switch either off at any time.
  • Registration by our staff. Our registration officers can register you themselves, one student at a time or from a list. The details come from you, or from the employer, sponsor or organisation that is enrolling you, and are limited to your name, email address, phone number and the course. You then set your own password from an email link, and you can ask us to correct or delete the details at any time.
  • Messages. When you use the contact form, we receive your name, email, phone number and message. If you message us on WhatsApp, WhatsApp's own privacy terms also apply to that conversation.
  • Company enquiries. If you use the Team Training or Hire Our Graduates forms on behalf of an organisation, we receive the details you enter (your name, role, work email, phone number, company and what you ask for). We use them only to reply to you and to follow up on your enquiry, and we keep them for as long as the enquiry is open and for a reasonable period afterwards.
  • Security and technical records. Our activity log records important actions on the platform (such as signing in, registering, changing a payment or an admin downloading a list of student data) together with the IP address they came from, to keep accounts safe and to investigate problems. We also keep error logs to fix faults. If you follow an ambassador's link, we store a random visit ID so the ambassador can be credited; it is not linked to your name unless you then sign up.
  • Where you're signed in. Each time you log in, we keep the type of browser and device you used (for example “Chrome on Android”), the IP address, and when it was last active, for as long as that login lasts. We show this list only to you, on your Account security page, so you can spot a login you don't recognise and sign it out.
  • Alerts (optional). If you turn on push alerts, your browser gives us a notification address for that device so we can send alerts to it.

3. How we use your information

  • To create your account, enrol you, give you access to your courses and run live classes, assignments, grading and attendance.
  • To take and record payments, provide receipts and invoices, send instalment reminders, and handle refunds.
  • To issue certificates and let anyone verify one with its code. The public verification page shows the name on the certificate, the course, the final percentage and grade, the date it was issued and the code.
  • To send you notices about your account and courses, in the app, by push alert and by email. You agree to emails when you sign up.
  • To keep the platform secure, prevent fraud and misuse, and fix problems.
  • To run our referral and ambassador programmes, and (only if you opt in) to introduce graduates to employers.
  • To meet our legal and accounting obligations.

We use your information on these grounds: to carry out our agreement with you, because you gave consent (for example for emails, your photo and employer listing), to follow the law, and for our legitimate interests in running and securing the academy.

4. Cookies and similar storage

We keep this to the minimum. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.

  • Sign-in cookie. A secure cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days, or until you sign out. The site cannot work without it.
  • Ambassador link cookie. If you arrive through an ambassador's link, we remember that code on your device for 90 days so the ambassador is credited if you sign up.
  • On your device. We save your light or dark mode choice, and the installable app saves some site files so it loads quickly and works offline. If you turn on push alerts, your browser keeps the alert subscription.

You can clear these any time in your browser settings. Clearing the sign-in cookie simply signs you out.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where it is needed:

  • Within the academy. Admins and registration officers can see student details they need to register and support you. Your tutors can see your progress, submissions and photo for the courses they teach. Staff photos are visible to signed-in students and colleagues. Other students cannot see your photo.
  • Employers. Only if you chose to list your graduate profile. Employers who ask us for graduates may see the profile details you published. Your CV share link shows what is on your CV to anyone who has the link.
  • Service providers who help us run the academy: Paystack (card and online payments); our email delivery service (for emails from the platform); EmailJS (to pass contact-form messages to our inbox); our website and server hosting providers; and video services such as YouTube, Vimeo, Bunny Stream and Cloudflare Stream for lesson videos and replays. Live classes happen on platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams, which have their own privacy terms. These providers only receive what they need to do their job.
  • The law. If a court, regulator or the police lawfully require it, or to protect our rights, users or the public.

Some of these providers process information outside Nigeria. When they do, we rely on the safeguards they offer and use only providers that we believe protect data responsibly.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account and learning records while your account is active. We may need to keep some records after that, for example payment records for accounting and tax, and issued certificates so they can still be verified. When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove what identifies you. You can also ask us to delete your account (see section 8).

7. How we protect it

  • Passwords are stored scrambled (hashed), never in plain text.
  • Photos, payment proofs and submitted files are kept in private storage and only opened for people allowed to see them.
  • Access depends on role: students, tutors, registration officers, writers and admins each see only what their work needs.
  • Every account can protect its sign-in with two-factor authentication (a code from an app on your phone), and you can see and sign out the devices you are logged in on.
  • We limit repeated sign-in attempts, keep an activity log, and use encrypted (HTTPS) connections.

No online service can promise perfect security. Please keep your password private and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.

8. Your rights and choices

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
  • correct information that is wrong or out of date (your name and email are changed by the academy on request, because they are tied to receipts and certificates);
  • delete your information, or restrict how we use it, where the law allows;
  • stop us using your information in a particular way, including emails, and withdraw a consent you gave;
  • give you your information in a common electronic format.

To make a request, email info@leadtrotechictacademy.com from the address on your account so we can confirm it is you. We will reply as soon as we reasonably can. You can remove your photo on My Profile, and switch off your CV link and employer listing from your dashboard, at any time.

If you are not happy with how we handle your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

9. Younger people

If you are under 18, please get a parent or guardian's permission before you register, and ask them to contact us if they have questions about your information. When you register you tick a box to confirm that they know and agree, and we keep that confirmation with your parent or guardian's details.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
